Our edelweiss embroidery technique has been passed down through four generations of artisans. Each flower takes approximately 3 hours to complete by hand, using silk and metallic threads sourced from the finest European mills, including Switzerland when available.
Our business shirts are cut from fine Egyptian cotton, where very collar is shaped by hand, every buttonhole finished with the precision that defines Swiss craftsmanship.
Zardozi · Zar (Gold) + Dozi (Sewing)
The Art of Zardozi Embroidery
Originating in 14th-century Persia and refined under the patronage of the Mughal courts, Zardozi is the art of sewing with gold. The technique employs fine metallic bullion threads, sequins, and pearls, worked by hand into raised, three-dimensional motifs that catch and hold the light.
Each velvet stole is stretched taut across a traditional wooden adda frame, where our artisans use an aari hook needle to couch gold and silver threads into the celestial motifs — the edelweiss, the crescent moon, and the radiant sun — that define the Mondnacht Velvet Stole.
A single stole requires over 60 hours of Zardozi embroidery, with each motif individually traced, couched, and finished by hand. The result is a piece that carries the weight of centuries of craft — a blessing made tangible.
